At last year’s Config, Figma introduced Figma Slides, making it easier than ever to create, edit and collaborate on presentations within the same design tool you already love. But what if you have an existing presentation in Google Slides that you want to bring into Figma?
Manually copying content over can be time-consuming, and traditional file conversions often lead to formatting issues. Fortunately, there's a quick and seamless way to import Google Slides into Figma while keeping everything fully editable.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to convert your Google Slides presentation into Figma Slides using the pdf.to.design plugin…
From Google Slides to Figma Slides - Quick Guide
- Export your Google Slides as a PDF
- Run pdf.to.design in Figma Slides
- Drop your PDF in the plugin
- Edit and customize your deck in Figma!
How to import Google Slides into Figma Slides
1. Export your Google Slides as a PDF
First, export your Google Slides presentation as a PDF document by navigating to:
File > Download > PDF Document (.pdf)
This saves your entire deck as a PDF, which is the format needed for importing into Figma Slides.
2. Run pdf.to.design in Figma Slides
In Figma, start by creating a new Figma Slides file. Then, go to “Plugins”, search for pdf.to.design and run the plugin in your Figma file.
3. Drop your PDF in the plugin
Drag and drop your exported PDF into the plugin window or click to browse for the file. If you have the PRO version of the plugin, you can select specific slides to import instead of bringing in the entire deck.
The plugin analyzes your PDF and converts it into fully editable Figma layers, preserving your text, images and layout. If any fonts are missing, you can choose to replace them with available fonts from your library.
4. Edit and customize in Figma!
Once the import is complete, your Google Slides deck is now in Figma! Everything is editable, so you can tweak the design, refine layouts or incorporate Figma’s powerful design tools to improve your slides.
